Save Our Shores Resistance 50th Anniversary: Voices of Yesterday and Today

  • Rye Public Library 581 Washington Road Rye, NH, 03870 United States (map)

In a lecture/ visual

presentation, author David Moore will recap his book “Small Town, Big Oil:

The Untold Story of the Women Who Took on the Richest Man in the World - and

Won”, a narrative account of the women who led the citizens of the Seacoast,

in the 1970s, to protect their community from billionaire Aristotle Onassis'

plans to develop big oil processing off the NH shores.

We have invited

Dudley Dudley and Nancy Sandberg to be part of a Q&A leading into a discussion

of the 2023 50th anniversary of the Resistance.

Then the program will switch focus to Today, and a 50th-anniversary commemorative swim to be held later in August. “Long-distance Swim” organizer Bob Fernald along with swimmers Betsy Sandberg and Meredith Bennett [daughters of Nancy Sandberg and Phyllis Bennett!]
