Rye 400 and the Rye Public Library
In 2023 members of the Rye Public Library staff interviewed members of the community as part of the Rye 400 Celebration. You can find those interviews we were able to compile using the link below.
We recommend using headphones while listening. You may need to adjust your volume for the best experience. A series of time stamps have been included with each interview for convenience of listening. All interviews were edited for sound quality and relevancy of topic. All interviewees consented to the release of the information presented.
Rye Public Library will feature items and artifacts from our long history in Rye. We’ve got primary documents and memorial items collected since the Library opened in 1911. We’ve also got some interesting artifacts donated to the Library since opening. These reflect residents’ travel, collections, chance discoveries, and more!

“I remember those days at Wallis Sands fondly. There is nothing like the chill of the Atlantic, the smell and feel of the salt air, the fog, and the sounds of buoys and fog horns.”
